More Fuel Saving Tips

Due to the popular response to last week’s edition of the Auto-Lab Dashboard and the increased cost of gas prices, we would like to provide our customers with additional fuel saving tips. They are as follows:

1. Use cruise control. Maintaining a constant speed over long distances often saves fuel.

2. Avoid heavy traffic and lots of a traffic lights. The shortest route is not always the most fuel efficient if you have to stop often.

3. Close your windows. Warmer weather is around the corner. When it gets here, remember to keep your windows closed. Open windows, especially at highway speeds, increase drag and result in decreased fuel economy of up to 10%.

4. Use the correct grade of motor oil. If you use the wrong grade, it may increase the friction in your vehicle’s engine causing it to get hotter and use more fuel.

5. Service vehicle regularly. Proper maintenance avoids poor fuel economy related to dirty air filters, old spark plugs or low fluid levels.
